Changes To The Clean Air Act

In February 2021 changes to the Clean Air Act will start to come into force, from February onwards all firewood suppliers in the UK can only retail logs that have a moisture content of less than 20% and also Wooodsure accredited . We have taken the decision to take our seasoned logs off sale at the start of the season instead of half way through.

We realise the price increase will not be favoured by many but this increase is negligible when the benefits are weighed up . Some of the benefits are listed below.

1. By using kiln dried firewood your fire burns much hotter meaning less fuel is required, reducing fuel bills.

2.During the burning process not only will kiln dried hardwood logs light much quicker, but also because the fuel burns for longer it requires far less attention in keeping the fire stoked with fuel. This is of great advantage in home appliances like stoves and heaters as they require less attention and provide better, cleaner burns.

3.Burning kiln dried firewood is better for the environment, you don't need to burn as much, for a start cutting down on labour, transport and storage. When wood has a higher water content the gases in the wood can't ignite and escape up the chimney which is further heat wasted and also causing excess soot and tar.

The most economically efficient logs.

Kiln dried logs provide a clean burn with a maximum heat output, as they burn hotter. You will use less wood making them more economical and will provide better fuel efficiency. Burning kiln dried logs will also ensure your stove glass is kept clean and will prevent the buildup of soot and tar in your chimney or flue. The logs are ready for immediate use. Suitable for use in all open fires, stoves and wood burners.

Ecoal 50

Low CO2 smokeless coal for open fires and multi-fuel stoves

Ecoal50 is the product we are most proud of.  Made in the UK by combining 50% renewable plant material with high quality Welsh mined anthracite, we have produced a revolutionary smokeless fuel that burns longer and hotter than house coal, whilst at the same time producing much less smoke and carbon dioxide.

Ecoal50 has been designed for use on open fires and multi-fuel stoves, where its larger hexagonal shape (75 x 40mm) promotes air flow resulting in attractive flames and loads of heat.  Thanks to its high and sustained heat output, burning Ecoal50 can work out cheaper than burning house coal or kiln dried firewood, because whilst individual bags are more expensive, you use less for the same heat.

  • Burns with a naturally attractive flame

  • Made from up to 50% crushed olive stones

  • Burns longer so can work out cheaper than house coal and kiln dried logs

  • Emits up to 80% less smoke than house coal and 50% less than kiln dried logs

  • Burns up to 38% hotter than house coal

  • Emits up to 40% less carbon dioxide than house coal
